After Max Verstappen sealed his fourth World Championship title at the Las Vegas Grand Prix last season, he joined an elite club of drivers that have won that many titles, with one of them being the great Alain Prost. However, the Frenchman is sure that Verstappen will eventually surpass him and capture at least five titles, as well as comparing him to one of the sport's greatest racers.

Speaking to RMC Motori, Prost was full of praise for Verstappen, knowing that he won't be in the same elite club as the Dutchman for too much longer: "A great champion, he has shown that he is the best, so being equal with four titles with someone like him doesn’t bother me. In fact, I am sure that he can surpass me and that he will certainly do so in the coming years."

'Verstappen and Lauda are similar'

Verstappen has already been compared to several drivers in Formula 1's rich history, with the likes of Ayrton Senna and Michael Schumacher, for example, being names linked to the Dutchman, with all three drivers not afraid of anyone on track, always having an aggressive driving style.

But Prost names anoth F1 icon and a former rival of the Frenchman that Verstappen draws comparables to: "I never want to compare yesterday's drivers with today's," the Frenchman starts by saying.

But then Prost continues on: "Max is like Niki when it comes to directness, there is no doubt about that. If you asked Lauda anything, the answer was always honest. Verstappen is a very engaging man, he says what he thinks. About the rest I cannot judge."
