Arvid Lindblad got closer to his F1 debut once again. The Red Bull junior managed to add another victory to his name in the Formula Regional Oceania Championship. Race 2 did not go as planned, but he could step on the top the podium again in Race 3.

Red Bull talent impresses in New Zealand

This weekend, the championship continued in New Zealand at Manfeild Circuit Chris Amon. After winning Race 1, in the the reverse grid race, the young Briton did not have the best of strategic calls, as his team opted against pitting him in rainy conditions. While his title rival, Zack Scoular won, Lindblad finished in P14 earning just 2 points.

In Race 3, Lindblad got back to winning ways in the rain, after taking pole position for the second time. It was not the easiest of events, as the conditions caused a safety car start and several more hair-raising moments.

"It wasn’t easy at the end, it was drying very fast and I knew these tyres are easy to overheat so I was trying to look after them," the Red Bull junior explained. As a result, Lindblad now has 236 points in the standings, leading ahead of Nikita Johnson by 40 points in the overall standings.

Why Lindblad is racing in New Zealand

Lindblad is in New Zealand to earn points towards his F1 super license. The driver, who was called by top advisor Helmut Marko as the biggest talent in the Red Bull Junior Team, can earn a maximum of 18 points in the series. If he gets to a miminum of 30, he will be able do drive in a FP1 session. With another victory, that is now getting closer for the youngster, allowing him to drive for the Red Bull family in free practice sessions and to be in the picture for a seat at VCARB in the 2026 season. Next year, the driver will also compete in Formula 2 at Campos Racing, replacing Isack Hadjar who could graduate to F1.
