David Croft: Don't rule out a Hamilton-Ferrari partnership
Sky Sports commentator David Croft warns nobody should rule out the possibility of seeing Lewis Hamilton wear red. During contract negotiations last season, he believes Hamilton genuinely thought about making the switch.
However, Croft admits it will only happen if the Italian team become serious championship contenders at the back-end of the calendar.
"Wouldn't it be nice to see Hamilton as a Ferrari driver," Croft asks Express Sport.
"It can happen, so don't ever count that one out. I am sure Lewis Hamilton thought about that once or twice as well. If Ferrari has a car to win a championship, I think it could happen."
Hamilton, a five-time world champion, is tied down at Mercedes until 2020, the same time at which Sebastian Vettel's contract expires. No driver has signed for 2021 because of the sports significant overhaul.
