Max Verstappen still knows what overtaking is. During the IMSA Esports Global Championship, the Dutchman had to overtake a lot of cars, but he seemed to do so with playful ease. Watch the footage here.

The Red Bull Racing driver has been competing in the IMSA Esports Global Championship last weekend. Although Verstappen stole the show with his overtaking, the Dutchman also made negative headlines, causing damage to the title contender of the sim racing series with a reckless move in the first corner.

At the opening turn, Verstappen tried to attack the championship leader but lost control of his car. The 27-year-old hit the Williams car, damaging both cars in the process. The other car from Verstappen's Team Redline was able to take advantage.

Verstappen received a penalty for the incident, fought his way back to the front, but then sustained damage again after contact with a straggler. As a result, the Dutchman got no further than 12th place.

The incident with the championship candidate ended with a whimper. The Williams team still won the title, which allowed Verstappen, who himself participated through a Wildcard and therefore played no role in the championship, to breathe a sigh of relief.

Afterwards, Verstappen took the blame for the incident: "I braked a bit, with the rear tyres. With these cars, it is then very difficult to control that. So I went wide and of course, there was another car that I couldn't avoid. So that was a bit unfortunate. It was my mistake'', Verstappen revealed in the stream.
