While Max Verstappen, Liam Lawson and the rest of the Red Bull Racing team are getting ready for the upcoming season, Sergio Perez is doing something completely different. After three years with Red Bull, Perez is no longer a part of their lineup. After being replaced, Perez stepped back and kept silent. Until now. For the first time since splitting from the Austrian team, Perez speaks about it.

While things had been rocky between Perez and Red Bull for most of the season, Perez said that he was surprised to leave the team. One of the biggest question marks surrounding Perez is regarding his return to Formula 1. Speaking to ESPN Mexico he said, "It is too early to give an answer as to whether I plan to return to Formula 1. Everything happened very quickly at the end of last season, I didn't expect to leave the team."

Perez takes time for next step

For right now, Perez is taking the time to enjoy his life and his family. "My priority is enjoying myself, doing things I haven't done yet, being with my family. In the next six months, I will make a decision about what I want as the next step in my career," he said.

He continued, "Because, in F1, all you think about is being a better driver and wanting to prepare better. Then you don't have time for anything else." Perez had an extensive F1 career that spanned 14 seasons. Now, he has shifted his priorities.
