Throughout his career, Max Verstappen has had some really great times. His father, Jos Verstappen, weighed in on those times when speaking with F1-Insider. He mentioned what he thinks is his son's best moment as an F1 driver.

Jos Verstappen on Max in 2024

During the 2024 season, Max Verstappen had to give it 110% to win the world title. He had to do so with a weaker car lacking balance and pace. While the RB20 was breaking down, the competition was heating up as other competitors' cars were only getting better as the RB20 was getting worse.

2024 was a complete 180 from 2023, where Verstappen easily dominated the entire season with only 1 loss. Jos Verstappen agrees with the statement that 2023 was Max's year.  "He was also extremely good in 2023. But of course, in 2024, it was a lot harder because he didn't have the best car in the field, and he, therefore, always had to drive on the limit without making mistakes. He did that incredibly well. He always gave 100 per cent, but this year, you saw that more. People saw that Max can make the difference compared to others."

'Wolff and Hamilton don't like that'

There is, however, one season that the older Verstappen likes more than 2023. "The best is always the first. Abu Dhabi 2021 was special. When you win the title on the very last lap, you never forget it. Toto Wolff and Lewis Hamilton won't like that. But I can still remember sitting with my son just after the race, and we went through his career in a short version. It was a very beautiful and emotional moment for both of us."

Jos Verstappen continued, "As for this year, of course, his race in the pouring rain in Sao Paulo stands out. He had to start at the back in extremely difficult conditions. It was easy to make a mistake, but Max just drove as if the rain wasn't there. That was special."
