Verstappen denounces FIA after penalty: 'Like we're all schoolboys'

Max Verstappen still finds his community penalty ridiculous. The Dutchman was penalised during the Singapore Grand Prix for swearing at an FIA press conference. The Dutchman completed this in Rwanda and he felt like it was a valuable experience to meet aspiring young drivers, he is not happy with the direction F1 is headed towards.

Verstappen is still unhappy with the penalty he has received. Later, for the same reason, Charles Leclerc was also given a fine in Mexico. "Yes, because of course we are schoolboys and we all have to sit properly," the four-time said in a sarcastic tone in the end-of-season interview with Viaplay called Simply Lovely.
"That's something I don't like about Formula 1. Of course I understand that you can't swear in the press conference, but that language comes out just as quickly. That's how we all grew up, the ones sitting there too," he began to explain.
He continued: "Then certain people say: my 5-year-old grandson is also sitting there watching that. Well, when I was five, I was also among people who were all using swear words. Of course, my parents didn't use swear words around me either, but what do you think I said in school?"
"You always keep that in there anyway. And if it's not said there, it will be used at school. You still want to be a bit tough as a child, even towards others. That's all part of it. Of course you have to watch your words sometimes, but if you are then punished like a toddler... Then I think: what are we doing in this sport?"
