Women in F1 one step closer: Calderon moves to Formula 2!
- Nicolás Quarles van Ufford
Alfa Romeo testing driver Tatiana Calderon has taken a seat in the Formula 2 as she signed for Arden Motorsport, making her the only woman in the sport. Could she be the first woman in F1 in de modern era?
There was a female Polish driver in Formula 2 between 2009 and 2012, but since then it's been all males. Calderon was driving in the GP3 last season, finishing 16th in the championship while being on duty as Alfa Romeo testing driver. She also participated in the V8 world series. Enough experience to make the step up to F2!
In 2018, all of the top three drivers in Formula 2 got the promotion to F1. George Russell, Lando Norris and Alexander Albon, who went to Williams, McLaren and Toro Rosso respectively, made out the top three. Could Calderon be the next driver to make the step up?
