Carlos Sainz will be in action for Williams before 2025. The Spaniard is currently still a driver at Ferrari, but will make the switch to Williams after this season. At the end of the year, after the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, there will be another test. Sainz will be behind the wheel of the Williams.

Why Sainz will drive the Williams in 2024

At the beginning of the year, Sainz was told that Lewis Hamilton would drive for Ferrari from 2025. It took a while for Sainz to find a new team, but eventually, it was Williams, run by team boss James Vowles. The Spaniard will be seen behind the wheel of the Williams from next season.

After the season finale in Abu Dhabi, a test will be completed by the teams and drivers a few days later. Williams wanted to put Sainz behind the wheel to allow him to experience the car as soon as possible. They have now, seemingly, been granted permission from Ferrari to do that in Abu Dhabi.

Williams explains that these are the first steps in the preparation for Sainz for the 2025 season. Ferrari have given permission for Sainz to do the test for Williams, something that Vowles had wanted for a while, but they first had to get approval.
