Christian Horner posted a goodbye message to Daniel Ricciardo on Instagram. The Red Bull team boss expressed his feelings about the Australian driver, who has been a long-standing member of the Red Bull Racing family.

Horner has always had a soft spot for Ricciardo. The Red Bull Racing team boss brought the Australian back to Red Bull Racing (as a third driver) after McLaren ended his deal at the Woking-based team early. It was Horner who decided to give Ricciardo a second chance at Visa Cash App RB. In the end, Horner also decided to sideline the eight-time Grand Prix winner in favour of Liam Lawson.

After Horner made that undoubtedly difficult decision, he thanked Ricciardo in a message on Instagram. "From the moment you arrived at Red Bull it was obvious you were so much more than just a driver. Your constant enthusiasm, sense of humour and attitude will leave an indelible legacy on the Team here in Milton Keynes and F1 as a whole," wrote the team boss of Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez.

Thanks for everything (except the shoeys)

"Thank you for the wins, smiles, songs (and I wish I could say the shoeys), you will always be a special part of the Red Bull Family. 8 wins, 32 podiums, 1329 points. These statistics and accolades are not the only measure of who you are and what you have achieved. Thank you Daniel," Horner concluded.

It is still unclear if Ricciardo will leave Red Bull Racing for good or if he will return to the role he was initially recruited for in early 2023. Ricciardo himself hinted on Thursday that his career in F1 is over.
