F1 driver Fernando Alonso on Red Bull, McLaren and Ferrari

Alonso: 'Not Red Bull or McLaren were the fastest in Singapore'

Lando Norris crossed the finish line if first position at the Singapore Grand Prix. The British driver had quite a lead all night long in the Asian country, and eventually finished 20 seconds ahead of Max Verstappen. However, according to Fernando Alonso, the fastest team this weekend didn't even have a driver on the podium last Sunday.

Alonso: 'They should have won'

The Spaniard, who finished in P8 in Singapore, believes McLaren were not the fastest team last Grand Prix, but instead named one of his other former teams. "The Ferraris should have won this race probably. They were the fastest car this weekend," he declared following the race.

Alonso himself had a good weekend in Asia, as he once again could score points, while he is teammate Lance Stroll finished in 14th and outside of the points, while the Spaniard was consistently running in the top 10. With this result, he also consolidated his position in P9 in the drivers' standings with 62 points.

"Obviously cars will not, I think, change too much from [the] last part of this year to next year. I don't see any revolution for any of the teams so we need to make sure that we find the direction," he explained.
