Horner discusses Daniel Ricciardo's future: 'He's part of the jigsaw'

Christian Horner admits Daniel Ricciardo remains "part of the jigsaw" as speculation grows about his future in Formula 1. There is a common belief in the paddock that the Singapore Grand Prix was the Australian's last event in F1. The Red Bull boss spoke about his future.
Formula 1 is currently on a hiatus. There is a one month break between the Singapore Grand Prix and the United States Grand Prix. Unlike the summer break, teams can visit the factories and work hard on their cars. It seems that Red Bull will also be pondering about the future of their driver lineup.
"We’ve now got a period of time where we will evaluate all the relevant performances of the drivers. There’s a natural break in the season to reflect on that, and there is a bigger picture beyond Daniel. He’s just one part of the jigsaw," Horner revealed.
Red Bull understand what they get from Ricciardo
The Red Bull boss then stated how the team know what they get from Ricciardo. "I think that we know Daniel very well, what he’s capable of, how he drives a car. We have that knowledge," Horner stated. Due to Ricciardo's injury sustained in the 2023 Dutch Grand Prix, Red Bull also know a little bit about Liam Lawson. The New Zealander replaced Ricciardo for five Grands Prix. However, he remains a largely unknown quantity, especially as he has only raced at Qatar out of the remaining six venues in 2024.
Horner also briefly addressed the fact that Ricciardo took the fastest lap away from Lando Norris. "Daniel, he obviously wanted to finish the race on a high. You’re going to have to ask VCARB about that one," Horner said.
