It is a hot topic in Formula 1 this weekend: the flexible wings of McLaren's MCL38. With McLaren's significant improvement this season, and both drivers delivering strong results, the legality of the British team's wings have been called into question. Oscar Piastri has delivered his verdict.

Piastri defends McLaren's results

At the press conference for the Singapore Grand Prix, Piastri spoke out about McLaren's much-discussed 'flexi-wings'. "Is this on the rear wing you mean? To be honest, I think it's natural. I think you look at any car that's been competitive, and it always gets scrutinised to the highest level. You look at the Mercedes a few years ago with their rear wing and the infamous 50k touch. You look at at a lot of the teams trying to work out Red Bull's DRS effects for the last couple of years. We've seen flexi front wings in the past and all sorts, So, I think naturally, there's going be scrutiny of just people curious to know why your car is competitive," the Australian said.

Last weekend, Piastri secured his second F1 victory in Baku. The FIA also ruled that McLaren's rear wing does comply with the rules, after Red Bull and Ferrari raised questions over its legality.

"I certainly don't think it's it's personal to us. All the other teams are trying to find, including ourselves, we're not just thinking that we're the best out there and we don't need to learn anything from anyone else. We're always looking at at the other teams as well. So I think it's only natural. And when you're at the front, and when you have a car within a second of you for 30 laps and the rear wing camera on there for 30 laps, then naturally, people are going notice it more too," Piastri added.
