Major changes are being made to the senior trackside team at Red Bull Racing. Max Verstappen's race engineer, Gianpiero Lambiase, is being promoted to an expanded role at the Austrian team as part of a restructuring within the Formula 1 team, but he will remain active as the race engineer of the Dutchman.

Restructuring at Red Bull, promotion for Lambiase

Red Bull will make several significant changes to its managerial staff for the 2025 Formula 1 season. Among them is a promotion for Lambiase, who will be given more responsibilities within the team. He will have the new position of Head of Racing, in addition to his role as Verstappen's race engineer. Previously, Lambiase was promoted to Head of Race Engineering.

In the aftermath of the announced departure of sporting director Jonathan Wheatley, who will take up a new challenge as team boss at Audi in partnership with Mattia Binotto, Red Bull has chosen to overhaul the structure of the leadership team. In doing so, no single replacement for Wheatley has been chosen, but his responsibilities will be divided among several existing team members.

Lambiase will remain Verstappen's race engineer

Although he will remain active in his role as Verstappen's race engineer, Lambiase will also be responsible for all of Red Bull's racing activities starting in 2025, including overseeing the personnel under his responsibility.

Former senior strategy engineer Stephen Knowles will have the new position of Head of Sporting Regulations, and he will be responsible for the team's compliance with all F1 regulations. He will also be the point of contact with the FIA. Senior engineer automotive engineering Richard Wolverson also gets a new position as Head of Racing Operations. Gerrard O'Reilly will have full control of the team's logistics operations.
