For Red Bull Racing, this year's Monaco Grand Prix is all about damage control. The Formula 1 weekend has so far been dramatic for the Austrian racing stable with P6 and P18 finishes for Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez respectively. Helmut Marko analyses his team's weekend so far.

Ferrari has been fast all weekend and in qualifying too it was Charles Leclerc' s name that topped the timesheet. The home favourite will start Sunday's Monaco GP from first place. "We knew Leclerc was the big favourite, but we were hoping for a place on the front row. That was also possible after the different qualifying runs," Marko stated.

For Verstappen, things went wrong in his second run in Q3. "Unfortunately, Max hit the crash barrier on his last attempt. Fortunately it was not serious, the car was not damaged as far as we could see. But sixth place on the grid is obviously a huge disappointment," acknowledged the 81-year-old Austrian.

"Sector two was our weak point. In the first sector, Max was usually fastest, meaning he had to make up time there. And that can sometimes go wrong in Monte Carlo," he continued. For Sunday's race, Marko does not have high hopes. "To have any chance of victory now, there have to be extraordinary circumstances in Monte Carlo with a P6 on the grid. If we come close to the podium, that would be very nice," Marko said.
