Charles Leclerc grabbed pole position for the third time in Monaco during qualifying. The Monegasque is clearly happy after securing first place.

"It felt good," says the Ferrari driver. "The feeling after qualifying here is always very, very special. So yes, I'm very happy with my lap. I'm so excited, it feels really good."

Leclerc does not want to get ahead of himself

Leclerc continued: "However, we also know from the past that qualifying is not everything. As much as it helps for the race on Sunday, we have to put everything together and in the past few years, we haven't succeeded. But we are a stronger team, we are in a better position and I am sure we can achieve great things. A win is of course the goal."

Indeed, Leclerc knows that points are only distributed on Sunday. He was on pole in 2021, but having broken his gearbox on his last lap attempt, he didn't start the race. Things went wrong in 2022 too, his team made strategic mistakes, causing him to fall back.

The Monegasque himself knows what he needs to win on Sunday: "A good start. And then, if we do that, Carlos [Sainz] can also have a good start and follow me. If we manage to be at 1-2, that would be the perfect scenario. But whatever happens, we have to get that win here at home."
