Charles Leclerc reveals how he aims to succeed in Monaco
Charles Leclerc is Monaco's first and only Grand Prix winner and polesitter. The Ferrari driver was born in the Mediterranian principality, and unfortunately, has suffered torrid luck at his home Grand Prix. Leclerc spoke about his luck at his home race in the press conference after finishing third at the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix.
Leclerc's luck at home:
Since his Formula 1 debut in 2018, Charles Leclerc has finished the Monaco Grand Prix just twice. The Monegasque lost a certain victory in 2022 due to a pitstop error, finished sixth in 2023, and didn't finish his three other home races. In the press conference, Leclerc said that despite the results, Monte-Carlo still has a special place in his heart. "Monaco is very special to me. True that it hasn't been the most successful race for me until now. However, the pace was always there and that gives me confidence that it will be the case this year too," said Leclerc.
Starting from a 'blank page' important for the Monegasque
Charles Leclerc still loves his home circuit. To forget about previous results, the five-time Grand Prix winner says that starting from scratch and building up throughout the weekend will be important for him. "Monaco is so specific that we need to start a little bit from a blank page. Free practice is super, super important to build the pace little by little. But I'm confident we'll be strong.
"As I've said many times, it's the same roads that I took by bus to go to school when I was younger. Now it's in a Formula 1 car. So that makes it extra special for me. I'm really looking forward to it. Monaco is a very special track for every driver because it's a very challenging track, and extra special for me as it's my home race." Concluded Leclerc.
