Williams' Alexander Albon caused a red flag during the first free practice session for the Imola Grand Prix. The Thai-British driver's car stopped, and Albon could only steer his car onto the grass. For the rest, the driver, who recently extended his contract, could not do much.

The car had to be taken away and so the red flag was waved in Imola. Initially it was a yellow flag, but Albon could not get his car off the track, forcing the marshalls to go inside so that the Williams driver's car could be removed.

Reporting from the track, GPblog has so far found out that Albon's car shut down after going over a kerb. The cause is currently unknown and will be investigated when the car is back.
