Kevin Magnussen will have to watch out in the coming races. This is because the Dane has received two penalty points on his licence following his crash with Logan Sargeant. This puts him very close to a suspension.

A lot of attention has been on the Haas driver's shoulders all weekend. During the sprint race in Miami, he received as many as 35 seconds of penalties. Magnussen defended hard against Lewis Hamilton. This included cutting the chicane and going off track with the Briton.

Magnussen did not hold back during the main race either. He crashed together with Logan Sargeant. The Dane was able to continue driving, unlike his American colleague. The man who returned to the Haas team in 2022 received a 10-second time penalty and two penalty points on his licence. He then failed to complete the penalty properly, so he received a drive-through penalty after the race. This penalty was converted into a 20-second time penalty.

Possible suspension for Magnussen in 2024

Due to his foolish actions, Magnussen must fear a suspension later this season. In total, a driver must have less than 12 penalty points. Otherwise, a one-race suspension will follow. The Dane is on ten penalty points after the Miami race weekend, all of which he also scored in 2024. The points expire after 12 months, so Magnussen must be careful in the coming period.
