FIA investigation says Halo saved Leclerc
An FIA investigation into the crash at the Belgium Grand Prix has concluded that the Halo stopped Fernando Alonso's car from hitting Charles Leclerc's visor.
Following an investigation which saw video footage and data from both cars analysed the FIA has ruled that the Halo prevented Leclerc from serious harm.
When speaking to autosport.com the FIA's safety director Adam Baker said, "We believe that Alonso's front wing endplate would have just contacted Leclerc's visor.
"It is difficult to predict the severity of the contact with any precision, though."
In the last race of the season, the Halo came under scrutiny after Nico Hulkenberg claimed he was "unable to get out" because of the Halo.
It is clear to see that there are real benefits to the Halo and perhaps after this investigation complaints about it will quieten.
