Logan Sargeant aims to score points at the Miami Grand Prix

Not many drivers can say they have three home races in one year, but for Williams' Logan Sargeant he does. For Sargeant, he sees Miami as his 'home race', given he grew up so close to the track, and this weekend he hopes to score points, like he did last season in Austin. 

In 2023, Sargeant scored his first, and only point in F1 during the Austin Grand Prix. So far this season he is yet to score a point. Nevertheless, he is feeling confident about this weekend, saying: “This track should suit our car a little bit better. I’ve had good moments racing in America, the race in Austin, qualifying in Vegas." 

Sargeant is hoping for that "special moment" this weekend, "to do the full loop and come back and score points."

"You have a bit more of a sense of comfort knowing the track than not knowing it." 

Earlier this season Sargeant missed out on racing in Australia. His team-mate, Alex Albon, crashed his car and with the team left without a spare chassis, the decision was made that Albon would race in Sargeant's car instead. Commenting on the issue, Sargeant said: "It doesn’t even cross my mind anymore. I’m fully focused on the race ahead. "

How has Sargeant performed before in the US?

Sargeant's best performances have come from racing in the States, with him finishing 10th in Austin, and qualifying 6th in Vegas. However, during last year's Miami Grand Prix he qualified and finished last. 

On average, he is likely to qualify 16th and finish 19th. 

For the first time this year, Miami will also feature a sprint race, with sprint qualifying taking place on the Friday, and the sprint race on Saturday morning ahead of race qualifying. This follows the new sprint format for 2024 which first debuted in China.
