Horner proud after dominant race: 'Improvement due to the team'
Christian Horner is as proud as can be after the victory and 1-2 at Suzuka. The team boss thinks the team is performing great and talks about how the team solved the problem around the longruns.
"It was great to bounce back after the DNF in Australia and after such a great start to the season, it was important to bounce back quickly and I think that we've done that emphatically here in Suzuka this weekend," Horner said just after the race.
The Briton is only too happy to say that the victory is not just down to Verstappen and Perez: "It's a great performance, we had a front row lockout, one-two finish, fastest lap and the fastest pit stop, so overall, you know, great team performance."
Car got better and better
Earlier in the weekend, it looked like Ferrari would still make things difficult for the Red Bulls regarding race pace. Carlos Sainz even thought the team were sandbagging. According to Horner, this is nonsense and the team worked hard to solve this problem: "I think speaking with the drivers, the car just got better and better through the race and so I think definitely that maybe the temperature helped a little bit, set-up changes, I think were beneficial as well. We don't know how much fuel Ferrari actually run on Friday, so to denote exactly what was the difference on those long runs, but definitely, the engineering team did a great job in tidying up with efficiency on Friday into an advantage on Sunday."
