Russell and Piastri incident reviewed by FIA: this is the decision!
There was an incident involving George Russell and Oscar Piastri on the 50th lap of the Japanese Grand Prix. The McLaren driver accused Russell of leaving too little space during the on-track fight. The FIA has since made a decision on the event involving Piastri and Russell.
Penalty for Russell after collision with Piastri?
There will be no penalty for Russell following the incident with Piastri, the FIA reports. The Mercedes driver is found not guilty of the action during the Grand Prix at Suzuka. Despite there being some contact between the two, the statement says Russell left enough space for Piastri at the exit of Turn 16.
Not the first time between Russell and Piastri this weekend
Incidentally, this is not the first time Russell and Piastri have clashed this weekend. On the day of qualifying, the two drivers also had to report to the stewards after Russell had an 'unsafe release'. Russell tried to quickly push his Mercedes between the row in the pit lane, forcing Piastri to slam on his brakes. Mercedes were fined €5,000 and that was the end of the matter.
