Carlos Sainz won the Australian Grand Prix ahead of teammate Charles Leclerc. The Monegasque driver is still ahead of his team-mate in the world championship, but he himself also recognises that it is a case of shifting points between the two. Leclerc acknowledges his superiority to Sainz after finishing second in Melbourne.

Leclerc has to acknowledge superiority to Sainz

"Carlos has just been better this weekend. It's been like that in the last three years where we basically would arrive at one race, and Carlos would be better, and then I would push, and then I would be better at the next race, and then we'll improve like that. That's very exciting as a driver to have such a fast teammate and he's really been on it since the beginning of the weekend so congratulations to Carlos," Leclerc said.

Future of Sainz and Leclerc

Leclerc, unlike Sainz, does not have to worry about where he will get behind the wheel next season. Indeed, the driver with number 16 on the car has signed a multi-million-dollar contract with his current employer. It was also announced that Lewis Hamilton will be the other driver at Ferrari.

So Carlos Sainz still has no employer for the upcoming Formula 1 season. He has been linked to Audi, but the constructor will not enter Formula 1 until 2026. So the Spaniard will have to bridge another year, but where is the question.
