Toto Wolff will not be present at the Japanese Grand Prix, which will take place in two weeks time. The Daily Mail reports this. The Austrian will, therefore, manage the team from a distance as he has done on previous occasions.

Mercedes have started the new Formula 1 season badly. The low point so far came in Australia. Lewis Hamilton retired due to an engine problem, while George Russell lost a seventh, potentially even sixth place, after a crash on the last lap of the race.

However, Wolff's disappointing season start is not the reason he decided to skip the Japan Grand Prix. The decision is said to have already been made before the season. Other Mercedes employees will share the team boss' duties. Of course, the Austrian will remotely make decisions and help.

George Russell will visit Mercedes' headquarters in Northamptonshire. Mercedes will also be looking for solutions to the inferior 2024 start.
