Red Bull Racing driver Max Verstappen loves sim racing. For instance, the Dutchman has his own sim racing team, Team Redline, for which he himself is often active for. He takes sim racing very seriously and sees opportunities for sim racers to switch to real racing.

Besides the busy schedule of Formula 1, Verstappen likes to keep himself busy with sim racing in his spare time. During the last winter break, he was very active and participated in the 'Real Racers Never Quit' tournament, for example. Besides enjoying it, he is also good at it. For instance, he managed to win three of the four races he participated in from the tournament.

Verstappen takes sim racing very seriously

The Dutchman, therefore, really sees sim racing as a professional thing. "No, I don't see it as a game. Of course I have my own sim racing team, and when I see the effort that we put in you know before we do a race, I think it's very professional. It's hard to explain here but there's a lot going on and I do believe that there are possibilities for sim drivers to move into real racing, that's also something that I am working on myself to make that a possibility for them."

Verstappen also sees sim racers succeeding in real racing

The future of sim racing, therefore, looks bright. "So yes, it's very exciting times for sure you know there are always things that can be done better but you know it's the same with our simulator it's never perfect. You always try to evolve and make things even more realistic, but that's also very exciting for the coming years to see what is possible. But yes, I do think it will create possibilities you know to get into real racing. I don't say maybe all the way to F1 right now, but there's more than only F1, you know, so yes, exciting times for that."
