Carlos Sainz Sr. is praising his son. The Spanish rally driver sees Sainz Jr continuing to develop at Ferrari, where he believes other drivers, at some point, come to a standstill in their development.

"What I love about Carlos is that he is always improving, he is still young, but he already has a lot of experience," Sainz Sr explained to Autosprint. "I think he is at his best now, also because of his age. There are drivers who finish growing at a certain point, but manage to progress every year."

Ferrari performing below expectations

Ferrari have not been competing for Formula 1 world titles for a while. Kimi Raikkonen was the last Ferrari driver to become champion in 2007, a year later the formation from Maranello took the constructors' title, but no world championships have followed in the years since.

They have lacked that final step for years. Carlos Sainz Sr: "I am confident that Ferrari can take the step that is still missing, hopefully the 2024 car will be better than the SF-23 and we will make a leap forward." For Sainz Jr., it will be his fourth season in the Italian team. His best result in the World Championship is fifth place. He won two Grands Prix.

Sainz's father himself is currently competing in the Dakar Rally. There, the 61-year-old driver looks set to take the overall victory together with Audi.
