flavio briatore on ferrari and 2024 world championship battle

Flavio Briatore hopes Ferrari develop well so that they can compete for wins more often in 2024. Last season, they won only once and often missed the podium. So work to do, according to the flamboyant Briatore.

"We have to hope there will be an improvement this winter if they are to be more competitive. For the sake of all Italians and for the sport I hope that Ferrari can do better, even though winning the world championship could be tough," the 73-year-old Italian stated to Monaco Tribune.

Briatore hopes Frederic Vasseur can turn the Maranello-based racing team into a winning team again. The Frenchman moved from Alfa Romeo and has since been able to mould the organisation reasonably to his liking. By 2024, rewards should be reaped. "Ferrari should be aiming at a podium at least in every race. Let’s hope a Frenchman helps Ferrari win, like I helped the French."

More fight in 2024?

Briatore himself was team boss of Renault for many years, including the seasons when two world titles were won with Fernando Alonso in 2005 and 2006. He hopes Red Bull will be more challenged next year. "I hope there will be a bit more antagonism next year, otherwise it won’t be much fun. People need to see a proper fight for the title, not such strong domination.”
