Grosjean still waiting for test in Mercedes: 'Haven't found time yet'
Romain Grosjean is still waiting for his test with a Mercedes car. Speaking to GP Racing , the former Formula 1 driver acknowledges that it is more down to him than Toto Wolff.
Grosjean was driving his last season in Formula 1 in 2020 as his contract at Haas was not renewed. With just two races to go, the Frenchman was about to say goodbye to the sport. However, he did not get the chance to do so in style. In Bahrain, Grosjean crashed hard, being lucky to get out of his car.
It did immediately mean his last race, as he did not re-enter that season due to a hand injury. Wolff then promised Grosjean a test in a Mercedes car. However, that test has still not taken place.
Grosjean sits has a busy schedule
The intention is to make it happen soon though, but the 37-year-old driver's schedule is extremely full. "Yes, absolutely. We haven’t found the time yet – and yes, it’s all my fault. It’s not easy though – I’m looking at 30 race weekends next year. You guys complain about 24 in F1 and I have 18 in Indycar, seven in endurance and five in F1 with Canal+. So it’s not easy to add a test."
He continued: "But also, very selfishly, I’m trying to delay it to get to the point where I can actually test a new generation of cars," he laughed. "But yeah, I’m still keen to do it and whenever I see Toto he always confirms that it’s going to happen. Yes, it would be very cool to get back in an F1 car."
