Marko is not disappointed with Perez after Las Vegas GP

Sergio Perez made quite a comeback at the Las Vegas Grand Prix. The Red Bull driver with number 11 on his car started 11th, and was second on the last lap. He did not manage to hold the spot as he was passed by Charles Leclerc on the final lap. Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko says Perez is not to blame.

Marko on Perez and competitive Ferraris

Leclerc was racing heavily with Red Bull drivers Max Verstappen and Perez. That the Italian Scuderia was competitive came as no surprise to Marko. "Ferrari are generally faster on the straights, they have power. Apparently Leclerc also optimised the battery, so he had everything he needed on the straights," he told ServusTV.

Despite losing P2 on the last lap, the Red Bull advisor does not blame Perez very much, as he saw an even more unfortunate alternative. "In the end, maybe he was a bit surprised. If he had driven a bit on the inside, he might have crashed. All's well that ends well," Marko commented.
