End of IndyCar season: Palou receives IndyCar title, Veekay finishes 18th
The final race of the IndyCar season has been run, which means, among other things, that Alex Palou has been crowned IndyCar champion, and he will take this title. Dutchman Rinus van Kalmthout, better known as Veekay, was in fifth place, but he was pushed off the track by later race winner Scott Dixon, resulting in 23-year-old Veekay finishing 18th.
"We had the pace to fight for victory here, but this result reflects the difficult season we have had," Veekay said. "Of my four years in IndyCar, this was definitely the most difficult. Still, I am happy: I feel I have taken a step forward as a driver and can't wait to get started for next season. In the last few weeks, the mechanics have worked really hard, everyone wants to make next year a success," he continued.
Palou after the IndyCar season
Alex Palou, who earlier became champion of this IndyCar season, finished third in the race. This meant two men on the podium for Chip Ganassi Racing, considering Dixon also drives for that team. The Spanish McLaren reserve driver was able to collect his title in Monterey after the final race of the season. This provided the following images:
"It's been an amazing year."
