Fred Vasseur can leave Belgium feeling satisfied after seeing Charles Leclerc finish on the podium. However, the Ferrari team boss remains calm.

After the race, Vasseur will therefore keep both feet on the ground. "I will stay very calm because we had the same meeting one week ago and we were at the end of the world, McLaren was flying and we were stupid and so that from one week to the others that McLaren is at the back today and we are at the front, it means we have to stay calm to take it easy, race after race," the 55-year-old Frenchman said in presence of GPblog.

Vasseur on Verstappen and Red Bull dominance

Red Bull Racing, and especially Max Verstappen, is the dominant force in the 2023 Formula 1 season. Is that mainly due to the driver's qualities or more to the RB19? "No it's quite impossible to split between driver and team or car," argues Vasseur. "The driver is also developing the car, he's also setting up the car that is part of the performance of the car."

"Now for sure that when you see the result at race after race that there is a big difference between the two teammates but this is not my issue, it's the issue of Red Bull," he added. Asked if Verstappen's dominance is detrimental to F1, he replied in the negative.

"It's just that we have to do collectively a better job, it's not that Max is damaging something, Max is doing a fantastic job, Red Bull is doing a fantastic job and it's just that we have to do a better job, we can't complain about Max or Red Bull," the Ferrari team boss said.
