Max Verstappen keeps breaking records this season. After just ten races this season, the Dutchman has already raked in 255 points. The lead over his first pursuer is already 99 points and although the season is still long, the record for most points in an F1 season is thus up for grabs.

Verstappen is experiencing an absolutely dream season. Of the first 10 races, the Red Bull driver managed to win eight. If he did not win, he limited the damage with second places. In addition, Verstappen accounted for five fastest race laps, also good for one point. Moreover, he won one Sprint, the other he finished third. This dream start ensures that his points total after ten races stands at a whopping 255 points, a number not even reached by Lewis Hamilton in his most dominant years. Only Sebastian Vettel managed to come even slightly close in 2011. In the first ten races of that season, the German then collected 216 points.

Does he break his own record?

Max Verstappen has held the record for most points in a season since last year. In 2022, he very convincingly grabbed the world title with a whopping 454 points. Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton had his peak year in 2019 with a points total of 413 points. The RB19 in Verstappen's hands two races before the summer break is still head and shoulders above the field. For now, the competition does not seem to be ahead in the battle for P1. With 12 races still to go this season, the chances are therefore plausible that Verstappen will run his previous record out of the books within a year.
