Red Bull Racing failed to top the timesheet in a session for the first time this weekend. Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez came no further than eighth and fourteenth in the third free practice session. Rain threw a spanner in the works for the team's programme, according to Helmut Marko.

Verstappen much faster than Hamilton

Red Bull drove only medium tyres with both drivers in the third practice session, while many other teams used the softs during their fast laps. The soft tyre is obviously much faster than the mediums, so Verstappen and Perez were in the middle of the timesheet.

"We could not continue with our programme, but at least we had some long runs. Max was one-and-a-half seconds faster than Hamilton and two seconds faster than everyone else. That's quite a demonstration. We are very well prepared for rain," Marko told ORF after the third practice session.
