The sprint race in Formula 2 was won by Jak Crawford. The Red Bull Racing junior crossed the line first after 27 hectic laps, with several safety cars. He trumped Victor Martins and Clement Novalak. Richard Verschoor crashed from second place in the race.

Half the grid opted for slicks, while the other half decided to start on rain tyres. Polesitter Jak Crawford and number two Jehan Daruvala opted for slicks, while men like Arthur Leclerc, Frederik Vesti, Theo Pourchaire and Verschoor were on rain tyres when the lights went out.

However, the track was already quite dry and so Vesti and Pourchaire decided to take their chances by coming in for slicks during the Daruvala-induced safety car. Suddenly Verschoor was second, but that did not last long. The Dutchman crashed from second position just after a restart on the fifth lap.

Just outside the podium finished Crawford's teammate Isack Hadjar, incidentally also a Red Bull Racing junior. The remaining points went to Juan Manuel Correa, Roman Stanek, Dennis Hauger and Jack Doohan. So starting on slicks ultimately proved to be the way to finish in the points.
