According to Helmut Marko, Red Bull Racing has a luxury problem with Sergio Perez. The Mexican's form has dipped over the last few Grand Prix weekends, increasing the pressure on the driver. Should the Austrians look for a second driver to put more pressure on Verstappen? Marko thinks there is no point while speaking to F1-Insider.com.

Perez's disappointing performance can be seen as a luxury problem, but that does not make it any less important, according to Marko. "We also take those seriously. But if you look at it simply, Perez is doing what we ask of him. He contributes to the constructors' championship, and when he is at his best, he can also win races." That is true. The six-time race winner has already won in Saudi Arabia and Baku this year. Especially on street circuits, the Red Bull driver knows how to make the most of them.

No one can challenge Verstappen

But, according to the Austrian consultant, there is little point in thinking of an alternative. "The question of whether he is good enough is not an issue for us. After all, Verstappen is only getting better, and then you have to ask yourself, 'Who is the alternative? Is there someone who can challenge Max?' I honestly don't think so." And so Marko is keeping some pressure off his Mexican 'pupil', where he has not shied away from putting pressure on Alexander Albon and Pierre Gasly before.

For Sergio Perez and his large fan base, there is some hope that he will soon be able to find his form again and at least leave Fernando Alonso behind in the battle for spot two in the drivers' championship. However, the Spaniard does not, and will not, shy away from a duel with the Red Bull driver.
