The Alfa Romeo/Sauber team will be called Audi from 2026, but after the current season Alfa Romeo is already leaving the Swiss team as title sponsor. It hopes to find accommodation elsewhere in Formula 1, possibly joining forces with Haas F1.

Alfa Romeo interested in Haas F1

Alfa Romeo has no intention of simply leaving the premier class of motorsport. Yet the Italian marque's options are pretty limited. Viaplay already hinted at talks between Alfa Romeo and Haas F1 during the Monaco Grand Prix weekend, and journalist Joe Saward confirms something similar on his own website.

He saw Alfa Romeo's CEO Jean-Philippe Imparato stop by Guenther Steiner's office at a quiet moment on Saturday morning. The content of that conversation has not come out, but is anyone's guess. Haas F1 appears to be Alfa Romeo's last option for a longer stay at the top level.

"It cannot afford its own programme and wants to continue badging Ferrari customers. The only team using Ferrari customer engines is Haas and so there is a natural fit if the two sides figure out how to do it. Alfa cannot easily replicate the current arrangements with Sauber, but it is quite possible that we will see an Alfa Romeo Moneygram Haas F1 Team emerge next year," Saward said.
