Lewis Hamilton believes Mercedes have "moved forwards" following the introduction of their upgrades at the Monaco Grand Prix. The seven-time World Champion finished in fourth place and is looking forward to gathering more data in the Spanish Grand Prix next weekend.

Mercedes upgrades

Mercedes were due to bring updates to the cancelled race in Imola last weekend. As a result, they had to try them for the first time in the streets of Monaco, which doesn't often give teams the best set of data points. However, Hamilton is pleased and is confident Mercedes have improved.

“I’m really happy. We’ve moved forwards. Coming into the weekend, I didn’t know where we would stand, so to come out fourth and fifth is really great points for the team. Huge thank you to everyone back at the factory for bringing those upgrades. We kept it in one piece, we beat the Ferraris, and we really got some great points as a team," Hamilton said.

The Formula 1 circuit will now move from Monaco to Spain. The track in Barcelona is well known to the teams due to the amount of pre-season testing done at the venue. Though not much mileage has been recorded here since the current rules and regulations were introduced in 2022. Still, Hamilton feels confident his car will improve.

“Next week Barcelona is the best test circuit for us, it was really difficult here to know. The car felt very stiff, there are lots of bumps. I felt one particular part of the car that was better, but I don’t know how that will be next week. I’m sure it will be a much better package next week," he concluded.
