Verstappen from pole

Qualifying for the Monaco GP is the most important session of the season every year. This is because overtaking in Monaco is extremely difficult in the narrow streets. So the drivers went all out for the fastest time on Saturday, again creating very small differences.

Verstappen took pole for the first time in Monaco, having already won from second place on the grid in 2021. That year Charles Leclerc took pole position but was unable to start the race due to a crash at the end of that qualifying session. The difference was particularly small this time, though, as Alonso was within a tenth of Verstappen with his Aston Martin. The surprising Esteban Ocon starts from third place, ahead of Carlos Sainz and Charles Leclerc. You can find the entire starting grid here. The race at the Monaco circuit starts at 14:00 in the UK, or 15:00 CET.
