Mick Schumacher is sidelined in Formula 1 this season. The German was driving for Haas in 2021 and 2022 but lost his seat there to Nico Hulkenberg. Meanwhile, Schumacher is a reserve driver with Mercedes' team. In an interview with his sponsor DVAG, Schumacher says he has "two personalities."

In 2021, the son of F1 legend Michael Schumacher made his debut in Formula 1. Mick Schumacher debuted in Formula 1 with the Haas team, which had a very poor car in 2021. As a result, Schumacher could not do much more than beat his teammate, Nikita Mazepin, which the young German almost always did. In 2022 came the real test, Haas did now have a competitive car and Schumacher now also got a better teammate called Kevin Magnussen. Schumacher had a very tough time in 2022, including many crashes. Eventually, it was announced that the German had to leave Haas.

Schumacher opens up

The son of Michael Schumacher says he has become increasingly shy over the years. The German also states that he has two personalities. "I have two personalities: on the one hand I am the driver Mick, on the other I am the private Mick. Private Mick, I am actually always, but as soon as I get to the track, I am the driver. That will remain so until I leave on Sunday night," Schumacher said in an interview with DVAG.

Schumacher aims to return

Having thus spent two years at Haas, Schumacher is on the sidelines this year as a reserve driver at Mercedes. A rumour already surfaced yesterday that Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff wants the reserve driver to join Williams next year. Schumacher himself, of course, is also aiming for a return to Formula 1. "My goal is to get a seat in Formula 1 again," Schumacher made clear.
