Sergio Perez has gained a lot of confidence after his wins in Baku. The Mexican managed to win both the sprint race and the main race, and is in serious contention for the world championship for now.

In 2021 and 2022, Perez did not manage to match his teammate Max Verstappen. The Dutchman managed to beat his teammate almost every race, and went on to become a two-time world champion as well. Perez often served as a mainstay, with the 2021 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, when Verstappen won his first world title, being the best example.

This season, however, the two-time world champion is having a tougher time with his Mexican teammate. The difference between the two is down to six points, and so the pressure is mounting.

Perez sees opportunities on normal circuits

It is often speculated that Perez can only win on street circuits. He himself thinks very differently, he told Motorsport.com: "The reason I am strong on such tracks is because I am able to play with the car much more than before. So I see no reason why I cannot play with the car in the same way on other tracks as well."
