’AlphaTauri rejected an offer, presumably from Mazepin family’
- GPblog.com
The saga continues. Will AlphaTauri be sold, or will the racing stable remain in Austrian hands? Auto, Motor, und Sport reports that Dmitry Mazepin is believed to have offered a sum of money to get his hands on the Italian team. The racing team rejected the offer however, as they do not want to do business with the Russian businessman.
Since Oliver Mintzlaff took the reins at Red Bull, a sale of AlphaTauri has been under consideration. After all, the energy drink manufacturer feels the team is not making the company enough money. Team boss Franz Tost said earlier this year that the team would not be sold, but since then nothing is certain at AlphaTauri. The Austrian team boss is leaving and the team's management is also going through changes.
'Mazepin made bid for AlphaTauri'
There are suspicions that Mario Andretti would be eager to take over AlphaTauri. But according to Auto, Motor, und Sport, there is another interested party. Dmitry Mazepin, father of former F1 driver Nikita Mazepin, is believed to have made and offer for the Italian racing stable. A bid from Kazakhstan presumably came from Mazepin's Russian hand. The chances of Red Bull eventually doing business with him are very slim. After all, the big concern probably does not want to deal with Russian money.
