Guenther Steiner would know if he had unlimited funds to strengthen his team. The Haas F1 team boss would 'definitely' attract Max Verstappen. Lewis Hamilton, as a seven-time world champion, will not be included in Steiner's team.

In Sky Sports' podcast, Steiner was asked who from the current grid he would like to have at Haas. "I wouldn't say Lewis because he's getting on with age. But there is another one who is very good. This is Fernando [Alonso]. I mean, the guy is over 40 and, man, he knows how to drive," the Swiss Italian praised.

Yet Alonso will not get a contract shoved under his nose either. Steiner sees more in investing in younger drivers. "I think it will be controversial. But I can be open about it because they are not coming to drive for me anyway! That's solved that problem of the controversy," Steiner laughed. "I think it would be Max [Verstappen], for sure. And either Charles [Leclerc] or George Russell."

Steiner fan of Verstappen

Why Verstappen is the 58-year-old top man's absolute number one? "I think he, at the moment, is just a driver who, talent-wise and mentally-wise, is just on a peak. He's just on top of the wave. He can do anything with a car at the moment. Everything seems to be going right for him."
