Daniil Kvyat will remain active in the World Endurance Championship (WEC) for the foreseeable future. The Russian will swap PREMA for Lamborghini's factory team at the end of the season. There, the former Red Bull Racing driver will become a teammate of Romain Grosjean.
Kvyat will be in action with Lamborghini during the WEC and IMSA (its US counterpart). Besides Grosjean, Kvyat will meet fellow drivers Mirko Bortolotti and Andrea Caldarelli at the team. Although still turning out for PREMA this season, Kvyat will test the new car for 2024 for his future employer Lamborghini Squadra Corse as early as this year.
Extra proud
In a press release from Lamborghini, Kvyat states: "I am very happy to have joined Lamborghini Squadra Corse, it is a great honour for me. Lamborghini is a very well-known Italian brand with a great history in the automotive world, and having grown up in Italy, this is an additional source of pride for me. We hope to achieve many goals together, I thank you for your trust in me, and I look forward to starting work on the LMDh project later this year."
With his switch to Lamborghini set for 2024, Kvyat seems to have put a return to Formula 1 out of his mind. The Russian lost his place to Max Verstappen in 2016. After that, Kvyat did drive for Toro Rosso and AlphaTauri. Soon, he will also test a Formula E car.
