Lewis Hamilton has not won a Grand Prix since the end of 2021. The seven-time world champion does not expect a win in Melbourne either, although there is one way Mercedes may still be able to rise above the car's potential.

Hamilton did not have to join the press conference, but the Briton did speak to his Sky Sports compatriots. "This weekend, hoping for some rain.
That'll make it more exciting from our point of view. Just hoping the gap isn't a second and that we can hit the ground running with the set-up." Hamilton said.

Best friends

This is the second weekend for Hamilton without Angela Cullen by his side. In Saudi Arabia, Hamilton announced that his former physiotherapist and trainer has gone her own way. "There's a lot of travelling, time away from family," Hamilton said about Cullen's farewell. "You grow incredibly close together. During weekends and travelling it's usually you and your trainer/physio. It's intimate in that sense and you become great friends."

"Angela is living her life right now. She has so many great ideas of things she wants to do. We message pretty much every day. We'll still skydive together. We are always going to be in each others lives. We've been through thick and thin. I'm grateful our relationship is as good as it is. I think we've had one of the longest relationships in the sport. I am incredibly grateful for her. I love her dearly," Hamilton concluded.
