Aston Martin team boss Mike Krack thinks Fernando Alonso can go for the win at the Saudi Arabia Grand Prix. Speaking to Sky Sports, Krack discusses the team's chances of taking the lead in the race.

Alonso again showed his best side during qualifying. Partly due to Max Verstappen' s retirement and Charles Leclerc' s grid penalty, Alonso will start the race from second place, alongside Sergio Perez's Red Bull. It proves once again that Aston Martin has made a very competitive car this season, and that the good result in the first race was no exception. Reason enough for the team boss to think a win is even possible.

"Basically, we proved that the car works here too," Krack analyses. "When you start from the front row, you don't drive for second place. I would be very surprised if Fernando thinks otherwise. The whole team is trying to get the best out of it. We are not here to finish second. There is only one Red Bull there."

'A lot can happen in the race'

By this, Krack is referring to the fact that Verstappen is condemned to an overtaking race. Due to a defect in his drive shaft, the reigning world champion will start from 15th place. It certainly won't be an easy catch-up race: the tight Jeddah circuit, a highly competitive midfield and Charles Leclerc's Ferrari just ahead of him mean it's not over just yet for Verstappen.

"I don't think it's that easy to drive past everyone," says Krack. "I mean, it's very tight, a lot can happen in the race. We are very positive."
