Marko happy with tyre upgrade RB19: 'Looks very good'
- GPblog.com
Helmut Marko on Thursday spoke of "Red Bull Racing's best test day ever". In a conversation with Motorsport-Total.com, the Austrian consultant adds that Max Verstappen was actually already fine-tuning the RB19 quite a bit. Furthermore, in addition to a good qualifying simulation, the two-time world champion was impressed by driving very stable lap times.
"We are really just fine-tuning. That's different things like engine braking, brake force distribution and so on. We are not at the optimum yet, but that's why we are there, that we are learning. And so far it's really only positive," Marko is quoted as saying.
The RB19, like last year's car, seems to be very good on tyres again. "That looks very good compared to the others. That means Max has taken another step in the right direction. And he gives quite accurate feedback." The 2023 car seems to be on track, while Ferrari seems to be suffering more from porpoising.
Saturday will see Sergio Pérez in the RB19 all day. Verstappen will be ready after Friday and can start preparing for next week's first Grand Prix in Bahrain from then on. This starts (of course) with the first free practice on Friday.
