Today it was announced that Sophia Floersch will return to Formula 3. The German will join PHM Racing by Charouz.

Floersch combined her F3 career with other racing classes during the 2020 season, but left the former after this. In the past three years, she competed in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the World Endurance Championship and DTM. This year, she will join F3 as the only woman.

“I am really excited and very happy to return to FIA Formula 3 this season with PHM Racing by Charouz. My goal has always been to race with the best of the best. Since the beginning of my career, I have been working very hard towards this goal every day with my team in the background.”

Macau Grand Prix

Floersch gained name recognition mainly because of her crash at the 2018 Macau Formula 3 Grand Prix. The then Van Amersfoort Racing driver flew through the air with her car and off the track, up against a building. Together with two photographers and a marshal, she was brought to the hospital. It later emerged that the German had broken her back. She did manage to return to racing after a period of rehabilitation.
