Sebastian Vettel has been an unemployed man since 1 January. The four-time World Champion brought an end to his long career in F1 at the end of last season and he has not yet announced what his future will look like. It is possible he will remain active in motorsport, in a different discipline that is.

Next week, Vettel will take part in the annual Race of the Champions event, where he will race in snow and ice in Sweden. From there, it is a small step to rallying. Something completely different from what he has done throughout his career. "I always liked, for some reason, rallying," he told the official website of Formula 1. "But I can see it’s a major challenge, because it's so different to what we do in, let's say, classic circuit racing. So I don't know. We'll see.”

Taking time

Vettel already has a lot of opportunities to start a nice, new chapter in life. He has already been linked with positions at Formula 1 teams several times. However, Vettel is taking his time to decide what he wants to do. After so many busy years on the road, the German wants to rest first and spend the necessary time with his family.

To the F1 site, he also said: "It's not like I have a calendar and will say in March, this is going to happen, and in April or May this is going to happen. I think I look forward to not having the calendar and then obviously at some point I need to find a lot of things that will keep me busy because I'm a busy, busy bee, busy mind.”
