It is a matter of time before Mattia Binotto's departure is made public. No agreement has been reached with a successor just yet.

Although Ferrari still denied it in a press release before the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, it seems a matter of time before Ferrari has to announce that Binotto will leave after all. Although Binotto still has a contract until 2023, he seems to be throwing in the towel himself due to a lack of confidence from management.

End for Binotto is in sight

Frederic Vasseur was already put forward as the favourite prior to the weekend in Abu Dhabi, but La Gazzetta dello Sport now knows to report that Vasseur's arrival is not yet a certainty. Indeed, other options are reportedly being looked at by Maranello, with Benedetto Vigna taking over the role of team boss ad interim.

Another name linked to Ferrari was Andreas Seidl, but the current McLaren team boss dismissed those rumours as nonsense. Vasseur also wanted to say little about the speculation but kept the door open more than Seidl. Vasseur would especially be a favourite of Charles Leclerc, as the Monegasque had previously worked successfully with Vasseur at Sauber.
